PRESENTED BY: LIGHT THE NIGHT
The Light the Night Benefit Concert is inspired by Matthew Rennie and his three year battle with leukaemia. This annual event has raised over $280,000 for leukaemia research and cancer patient resources. Monies raised from this year’s concert will fund the Light the Night Research Grant undertaken by St Vincent’s Hospital.
Each year talented Australian artists donate their time to help raise money for this much needed cause. Hosting the 2012 concert will be actor and musical theatre performer Rob Mills and international musical therapist Jan van de Stool. This year’s lineup includes Legally Blonde leading man David Harris, favourites from The Voice Prinnie Stevens and Mahalia Barnes, Triple J presenter and indie singer Brendan Maclean, leading Australian jazz vocalist Emma Pask accompanied by Thirsty Merc bassist Phil Stack, Sydney Theatre Company resident actor Zindzi Okenyo, drag artiste Trevor Ashley, I Will Survive contestant Tom Sharah, up and coming independent artists TJ Power and Kathy Sgroi, as well as beloved cabaret stars Tim Draxl and Sheridan Harbridge, along with musical theatre favourites Bobby Fox, Elise McCann and Johanna Allen and cast members from the musical Next to Normal. More performers will be announced in coming weeks.
Sadly, Matthew passed away in October 2007, he was 24 years old. Light the Night continues as Matthew's legacy.
